VOLUNTEER - Alumni Association Leadership

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION STANDING COMMITTEES

Alumni Standing CommitteeIf you are interested in getting more involved in the Alumni Association with a greater commitment than helping out at an occasional program or event, a standing committee might be right for you.

Standing committees meet regularly (usually 4-6 times a year) to discuss policies and procedures surrounding different areas of the CSULA Alumni Association programming and business.

Current standing committees include:

Alumni Scholarship Committee
The Alumni Scholarship Program provides students with financial assistance in recognition of their leadership, service and participation in student activities, and academic excellence.  Each year the recipients are selected through an application and interview process conducted by the scholarship Committee of alumni volunteers.

The Alumni Scholarship Committee determines policies and procedures for the scholarship selection process, and directs the selection process.

Membership / Communications Committee
The Membership / Communications Committee oversees goal setting and result analysis of the Association's membership acquisition and renewal program.  In addition, it
ensures that the Alumni Association is communicating effectively and consistently with alumni by coordinating concise, compelling, and interesting messaging; and increasing the visibility of the Alumni Association within the local community.  Members of this committee include the Alumni Network Representatives and alumni who are leaders in the community.

The responsibilities of the committee members are to work with staff in determining program priorities; to assist in planning evaluation programs; to help staff in recruiting, mentoring, and training advocacy program participants; to attend advocacy committee events and play a leadership role in order to become articulate spokespersons on CSULA and CSU legislative and governmental issues; and to become knowledgeable about legislative advocacy techniques and volunteer political involvement.
